MISSION
The International Bridge, Tunnel and Turnpike Association (IBTTA) is the worldwide alliance of toll operators and associated industries that provides a forum for sharing knowledge and ideas to promote and enhance toll-financed transportation services.

STAA 2009

In this section of our website, you will find resources and commentary on the Surface Transportation Authorization Act of 2009 (STAA 2009).  The Subcommittee on Highways and Transit of the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee released the “Committee Print” of this Act on June 22, 2009.  This section of our website includes independent articles and opinion pieces that do not necessarily represent the views or policy of IBTTA.  We provide them here as a resource to you.

National Surface Transportation Policy and Revenue Study Commission

Transportation for Tomorrow: Report of the National Surface Transportation Policy and Revenue Study Commission, prepared by a specially convened Commission, meets the charge given under Section 1909 of the Safe Accountable, Flexible and Efficient Transportation Equity Act – A Legacy for Users (SAFETEA-LU).  The Report includes detailed recommendations for creating and sustaining a pre-eminent surface transportation system in the United States.

National Surface Transportation Infrastructure Financing Commission

The Financing Commission offers a roadmap for sweeping reform of the nation’s transportation infrastructure funding and finance framework. The Commission offers specific recommendations for increasing investment in transportation infrastructure while at the same time moving the Federal Government away from reliance on motor fuel taxes toward more direct fees charged to transportation infrastructure users.

National transportation policy has lost direction and a clear sense of purpose, threatening substantial costs to our collective prosperity, security, environment, and quality of life. The National Transportation Policy Project (NTPP) is recommending bold and comprehensive reform founded on a relatively simple proposition: U.S. transportation policy needs to be more performance-driven, more directly linked to a set of clearly articulated goals, and more accountable for results.
