Discussion Questions
The purpose of the book club is to discuss books that we have read. And we also encourage participation from those who may not have had the chance to read, but who wish to add to the conversation. The clip below provides the premise for the book – Black, White and The Grey. The co-authors share their personal experiences and how they came together to form a meaningful partnership that was chronicled in their book. Please watch this less than eight (8) minute segment from "CBS Sunday Morning" in preparation for our discussion on Thursday, September 29 at 3:00 pm.
CBS Sunday Morning Video Clip (7:45 minutes):
"Black, White, and The Grey": A Savannah restaurant and race
Built in what was once a segregated bus terminal in Savannah, Ga., The Grey is a destination restaurant that defies preconceived notions about Southern cooking. It also offers its partners, restaurateur and entrepreneur Johno Morisano and James Beard Award-winning chef Mashama Bailey, a setting for conversations about race, which grew into a book: "Black, White, and The Grey: The Story of an Unexpected Friendship and a Beloved Restaurant." They sat down with correspondent Martha Teichner to discuss their quietly provocative endeavors. "CBS Sunday Morning" features stories on the arts, music, nature, entertainment, sports, history, science and Americana, and highlights unique human accomplishments and achievements.
