A Series of Twitter Chats Focusing on Transportation & Tolling Issues
First Twitter Chat - Moving the Public from ‘No’ to ‘Know’ with Lloyd Brown of AASHTO

WASHINGTON, DC
– The International Bridge, Tunnel and Turnpike Association (IBTTA), the worldwide association representing toll facility owners and operators and businesses that serve them, today announced a series of monthly Twitter chats -- #TranspoChat – that will focus on a range of transportation issues, including tolling, funding and investment. The first of these chats begins next week with an hour of fast-paced discussion, debate, and learning moderated by Patrick Jones, IBTTA’s Executive Director and CEO, and featuring special guest, Lloyd Brown, Communications Director with the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO).

WHAT: @IBTTA Monthly Transportation Twitter Chats -- #TranspoChat
Making the Case for Federal Investment in Transportation: Moving the Public from ‘No’ to ‘Know’ with Lloyd Brown of AASHTO

WHEN: Tuesday, March 25th at 3:00PM EDT

HOW:   To join the conversation, follow the #transpochat hashtag from your Twitter account, or log on to TweetChat

Brown will address these questions, among others:

  • Why is it so important that the public recognize the need for more transportation funding?
  • How has public education regarding transportation funding been accomplished in the past?
  • What efforts to educate the public have worked and what efforts haven't?
  • How does the advent of social media impact what organizations should be doing to educate the public?
  • What new methods do you believe would be effective in educating the public about the need for transportation funding?

Lloyd Brown is responsible for all facets of AASHTO communications including strategic messaging, media relations, social media outreach and web site administration. Previously, he managed a 70-member, statewide communications team for the Washington State Department of Transportation, which redefined the agency’s relationship with the public and was recognized as a national leader in the development and implementation of social media tools.

IBTTA is launching this monthly Twitter Chat series to help build the online community of highway transportation professionals—and, over the next few months, elevate the highway transportation funding debate among both the community and public while focusing attention on the reauthorization debate in Congress.
