A Well-Deserved Acknowledgement for Georgia’s State Road and Tollway Authority’s Chris Tomlinson

It’s a wonderful thing when a transformative leader receives the recognition he or she deserves.

And that’s exactly what happened this month, when Georgia Trend magazine included Chris Tomlinson, executive director of the State Road and Tollway Authority and the Georgia Regional Transportation Authority in its list of the 100 most influential Georgians for 2016.

Tomlinson’s capsule profile in the magazine cites management of the state’s centralized toll operations and transportation financing as a “huge undertaking” and makes specific mention of the managed lane projects SRTA is building in Cherokee, Cobb, and Henry counties.

It might also have noted his visionary, breakout leadership at IBTTA board meetings, workshops and conferences, where you can always count on Chris for a provocative look at the issues and opportunities on the industry horizon.

And much as this is an important and well-deserved milestone for Tomlinson, it doesn’t end there. SRTA Director of Marketing and Communications Malika Reed Wilkins points out that 10 of the magazine’s 100 citations went to “key individuals who have a major influence on transportation in Georgia.” Many of them are “actively involved in mitigating congestion and enhancing mobility for Metro Atlanta.”

The nine-plus editorial staff who take part in the nominating process “do not take the task of selecting the most influential people in the state lightly,” Georgia Trend stresses. “Here in Georgia, we have a lot to be proud of,” and “while it can be easy to take all this for granted, it’s because of many of this year’s Most Influential Georgians that we are happy to call Georgia home.”

Congratulations and thanks to Chris Tomlinson for leading an organization that makes Greater Atlanta residents even happier to call Georgia home. Because, thanks to Chris and his team, they can actually get to and from home easier, along a safe, reliable
