Vintage Tollway Ad Promotes Safety, Reliability

You take the highway

And I’ll take the tollway

And I’ll be there safely before ye…

With that verse, the voice of Mary McToll opens this minute long, black-and-white promotional video from the Illinois Tollway.

The vintage ad shows, when it comes to the benefits of highway mobility, tolling agencies have been telling a consistent story for a very long time.

“Yes! Safe, on time, and free from tension, even after a long drive, because it’s actually fun to drive the Illinois Tollway,” the narrator intones. “Make your driving a pleasure on the Tri-State Tollway.”

Today, the Illinois Tollway announced it will build a unique test site to improve existing tolling products and study future technologies, including smartphone tolling applications and I-PASS transponders that instantly confirm toll payments. The test site will be the first of its kind in the nation and is scheduled to open in 2015. In the past and in the future, the Illinois Tollway is always focused on providing customers safe and reliable mobility.
