George Christopher, Business Development Manager, North America for Emovis Wins the International Bridge, Tunnel and Turnpike Association’s 2022 Distinguished Leadership Academy Alumni of the Year Award

WASHINGTON, D.C. – The International Bridge, Tunnel and Turnpike Association (IBTTA), the worldwide association for the owners and operators of toll facilities and the businesses that serve them, today announced that George Christopher – Business Development Manager, North America for Emovis – won the 2022 Distinguished Leadership Academy Alumni of the Year Award. The honor recognizes a leader that has demonstrated and made significant commitments to tolling and the transportation industry after graduating from the IBTTA Leadership Academy. 

“Growing up in my family, we were taught that if we saw something that needed to be done, do it. Don’t wait to be asked or told,” said Christopher. “Over the past 3 to 4 years, IBTTA has really become my extended family. As I’ve heard others say, ‘I’ve found my tribe.’ When I found out that someone was interested in nominating me for this award, I was truly surprised. So much so that I had to take a few minutes to reflect on all of my activities, as I had never given it any thought. I’m truly appreciative that a group of my peers even thought to nominate me, let alone vote to give me the award. I would like to thank the LAAA for this honor and thank Emovis for giving me the latitude to participate as much as I do.”

To be considered for the IBTTA Distinguished Leadership Academy Alumni of the Year Award, a person must mirror IBTTA's focus on advancing leaders in the industry, as well as serve to inspire others while building relationships. The individual also embodies emerging mindsets and the evolution of transportation in their respective organization or agency and demonstrates an intense commitment to providing excellent service to the tolling industry and maintaining perseverance in the face of adversity.

The Leadership Academy Alumni Association and its various committees serve to further build and develop relationships to enhance capacity and growth through continued engagement of IBTTA Leadership Academy graduates.
