- Manasquan Elementary Post-Sandy Clean-Up Project
Foundation Service Project
Jersey City, New Jersey
IBTTA volunteers, in conjunction with Jersey Cares converged on Manasquan Elementary School, located in Manasquan, NJ on the Jersey Shore, on Sunday, April 6, 2014. The school is comprised of 677 students in grades K-8. The town of Manasquan has a population of 5,900. During Superstorm Sandy, 31 percent of Manasquan’s rental units were damaged, making the borough among the worst-hit towns on the Jersey Shore.
IBTTA volunteers installed a fence on the school property, painted games and installed new basketball hoops on the blacktop, providing the kids with much needed outdoor activity. Superstorm Sandy displaced over 100 families with students that attend the school, some of whom have still not returned home after more than year after the storm.
