Select Group of 34 Future Leaders Hail from Around the Globe

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Emerging transportation leaders from across the globe will convene for the International Bridge, Tunnel and Turnpike Association’s (IBTTA) 2015 Leadership Academy, February 8-13, in Washington, D.C.

"From Israel to Kansas City, from Mozambique to Jersey City, and from Norway to Austin, IBTTA is bringing together the best and brightest members of the tolling industry from around the globe to prepare them to be extraordinary transportation leaders of the future," said Patrick Jones, Executive Director and CEO of IBTTA. Participants for the 2015 IBTTA Leadership Academy were selected through a competitive application process.

IBTTA's 2015 Leadership Academy is designed to provide the 34 participants with industry training that prepares them to better understand the full range of today's executive responsibilities; to develop a more complete understanding of the multifaceted business of tolling; to improve their communication and interpersonal skills; and to broaden their network of peers around the globe.

To this end, the educational sessions are designed to create confident transportation leaders with the ability to lead the industry into the future. The Academy features topics such as the business of tolling, partnering for improved results, understanding the generations at work, emotional intelligence, being a strategic leader, envisioning the future of transportation, managing work/life balance, and telling your story.

Led by clinical psychologist, educator and former operating transit manager Barbara Gannon, Psy.D, GannonConsult, IBTTA's Leadership Academy features a mix of workshops focused on building the ultimate transportation leader of the future. Dr. Gannon noted that the classes will be taught by a range of distinguished instructors from the transportation industry, associations, government, the fields of psychology and education. "Instructors include executive directors of toll agencies; private sector leaders from transportation finance, construction, engineering and technology, associations, as well as practitioners from the fields of organizational development, psychology and education," said Dr. Gannon.
