MEDIA ADVISORY

IBTTA gathers transportation leaders to address new ways to pay for transportation
April 26-28, 2015; The Nines Hotel, Portland, Oregon

WHAT
As Congress struggles to restore the solvency of the federal Highway Trust Fund, states and localities are blazing new paths to generate sustainable funding for their vital transportation infrastructure. Thirty-five states now use toll financing to build and operate limited access road infrastructure. Oregon and a dozen other states are exploring road usage charging (RUC), a policy of assessing fees for the use of roadway infrastructure across an entire roadway network.

The International Bridge, Tunnel and Turnpike Association (IBTTA) will explore these and related topics during its Transportation Finance and Road Usage Charging Conference, April 26 to 28, 2015, at The Nines Hotel, Portland, Oregon.

Oregon is the perfect place to host this conference because it was the first state to institute the gas tax and is the first state to pilot Road Usage Charging. Industry experts from the U.S. and around the world will explore a range of topics including; project planning; political and policy considerations of implementing RUCs; toll revenue diversion; public engagement, and more.
