As Conversations at the National, State and Local Levels Focus on Transportation Infrastructure, Future Transportation Leaders
Gather for Week-Long Academy, February 23-28 in Washington, D.C. 

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- This week, 36 transportation professionals are joining future transportation industry leaders from across the globe for the International Bridge, Tunnel and Turnpike Association’s (IBTTA) 2020 Leadership Academy. The Academy runs February 23-28, in Washington, D.C.

"My theme as IBTTA President this year is ‘The Road to Continued Excellence.’  Excellence doesn’t just happen; it gets built by strong leaders.  That’s why I believe nothing is more important to our industry than its future leaders.  I’m proud to serve as President of an association that puts leadership development at the top of its agenda,” said Samuel Johnson, IBTTA President and Chief Toll Operations Officer for the Transportation Corridor Agencies.

Selected through a competitive application process, 36 attendees will participate in the intensive week-long course taught by internationally recognized toll industry leaders, business partners and educators.

"The technologies and systems that drive mobility around the world are changing very rapidly. To adapt to those changes, our industry needs great leaders,” said Pat Jones, Executive Director and CEO, IBTTA.  “It’s essential for us to equip our future leaders with a well-rounded understanding of all aspects of tolling and transportation systems. That’s what the Leadership Academy is all about, and it’s part of our DNA.”

The course work includes many facets of toll agency operations with a healthy dose of self-assessment and problem solving. Dr. Barbara K. Gannon, Psy.D., directs IBTTA’s Leadership Academy program.  In addition, she has designed and delivered training programs in the transportation sector for more than 20 years.
